End of an era for the Arsenal Ladies

For the first time since 2002/03, the Arsenal Ladies will not win the title. Bristol and Liverpool will compete head to head on the 29th of September 3 days after the last of the 2 games international break at the Halton Stadium in Widnes.

Question have to be asked on why the girls let the title slip after coming back so strongly from an awful start. To be fair, the results have been good : 1 defeat on opening day at home to Liverpool and 3 draws against Lincoln twice and Bristol.

But a 14 games league does not allow for many slip-ups and there was one too many. Put it this way a win against Lincoln would have seen the girls still in the race on final day but it was not to be. Liverpool and Bristol did better and congratulations to the team who will win the title.

Things are not entirely doom and gloom as there is still a chance for a Champions League place providing the girls win at Everton and things go our way on Merseyside. Basically a win is necessary with Liverpool to get a point of Bristol or should Bristol win the game by x, Arsenal need to beat Everton by 7-x ie Bristol win by 1, Arsenal to win by 6 to finish 2nd.
