FA WSL Day 6 preview

Everton v Liverpool
2nd Merseyside derby this season, the 1st one was the opening game on the season (conti cup game). It ended up 1-1. Everton on the back of a disappointing draw with the Belles will welcome back Toni Duggan. She has been in great form so far and has taken over the attacking leadership with ease. Liverpool are currently top of the League and serious favorite to get a champions league place with a team that has now gelled as Matt Beard has started the same 11 as frequently as possible. It should an exciting and intense derby and even if Liverpool has a better 11 overall a home win would not surprise me.

Lincoln v Doncaster
Lincoln league season is clearly disappointing with 2 points in 5 games and clearly far from the original target. Rick Passmoor has a small squad and does his best, he will need to sign player come the transfer window. The Belles are on the up and just got their first point last week. Sue Smith’s return has given them that extremely valuable experience they needed and I would not be surprised to see them grab another point at Sincil Bank.

Birmingham v Bristol
2 teams that are vying for a top 2 place Bristol with an 11-7 goals record while Birmingham is 4-3 quite the opposite. Both team will be attacking with style and we should hopefully see some goals. Bristol might have a few injuries from the 3 back to back games against Arsenal and should trust their youth players that came through the CoE and college.

Arsenal v Chelsea live on ESPN
Arsenal trying to climb up the table after a poor 2 game start but an excellent 3-2 win at unbeaten Bristol.
Chelsea is really a mix bag with good results win v Liverpool and poor display at times, defeat at Bristol and Chelsea. It is difficult to know which Chelsea team will turn up on the day. Sophie Ingle is back in training so will help stabilise a defense that has not always looked stable in the game I have attended. Arsenal should edge it in a close game.
